Vice President of Marketing

We seek a visionary Vice President of Marketing to lead our innovative omnichannel wine brand. As an outsider-built company disrupting a traditional industry, we're looking for fresh perspectives to drive our notable brand's impressive growth in a dynamically changing category. We do not require previous alcohol industry experience. Instead, we value candidates who bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to our rapidly growing brand in the evolving wine market.

The VP Marketing will develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies across the entire marketing funnel, including brand, retail, performance, and partnerships. Serving as a key company leader, they will guide the evolution of this brand as it expands to a broader audience and continues to capture market share.

Reporting to the CEO, Jen Purcell. Managing a team of eleven.


 

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute always-on brand-level storytelling and positioning to create mass-level awareness of the Avaline brand.
  • Create a go-to-market strategy for all new launches.
  • Design and implement holistic and channel-specific marketing strategies to drive sales growth in retail, digital, and hospitality channels.
  • Lead and execute national partnerships with other brands and businesses that will position Avaline as a leader in cultural relevance.
  • Oversee the creative team to ensure consistent and cohesive guardianship of the brand and positioning; ensure an agile and effective creative process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive marketing efforts across all touchpoints.
  • Analyze market trends and consumer insights to inform strategic decision-making around product development, distribution, and marketing strategies.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 12 marketing professionals across brand, digital, and creative disciplines.
  • Own and allocate total marketing P&L for the organization. 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in brand marketing, storytelling, and growth strategy for both start-ups and large consumer goods companies (CPG, beverage, or lifestyle brands preferred).
  • Proven track record in brand building, launch execution, and revitalization, driving growth in competitive or challenging markets.
  • Omnichannel marketing expertise, with a strong understanding of retail, e-commerce, trade marketing, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience developing creative, industry-disrupting campaigns that challenge traditional norms.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with 8+ years managing high-performance teams across brand management, digital marketing, and creative departments.
  • A data-driven approach to marketing strategy and decision-making, with expertise in marketing analytics tools.
  • Ability to execute and scale complex marketing programs, overseeing end-to-end strategy and multi-channel launches.
  • Experience in founder-led, venture-backed, or PE-backed companies is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel to California semi-regularly as needed.

The VP Marketing position will offer a salary of $175,000-275,000 per year + annual bonus, based on a variety of factors. This position is remote with regular travel to California.
