Creative Director

We are seeking a Creative Director / VP to lead our in-house and freelance creative team and own the creative strategy and manage the execution of the Avaline brand across channels. You will come with a strategic perspective on where the brand sits in our customer’s world and how it should be expressed moving forward. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day creative execution of the brand, managing creative production for everything from campaigns, to new product launches, to social content. 

Given Avaline operates both wholesale and DTC, the right candidate will have experience working on content-led brands that operate in both digital and physical spaces. You’ll bring an understanding of how to create high performing creative and messages in each channel. 

As we develop new brands and products you’ll work closely with the Avaline’s co-founders and CEO to develop strategy, positioning, messaging, packaging and go-to-marketing campaigns. With your understanding of the customer, the market, and emerging trends you will set the vision for how the brand evolves over time.

Reporting directly to our CEO, you’ll work closely with the creative and marketing teams to ideate inspiring creative campaigns and design directions while providing clear, actionable feedback. You'll mentor, coach, and lead creative efforts with workshops, brainstorms, and critiques all the way through to final presentations to help up-level creative work and ensure Avaline remains a modern and elevated lifestyle brand.


What You'll Do:

  • Lead, inspire and motivate the creative team
  • Align on the overall marketing vision with CEO and provide ongoing positive mentorship and guidance of all team members and build, support, and retain a world-class creative team
  • Push the quality of the work and craft forward every day to drive stronger business results and tie to business goals such as revenue growth and brand awareness
  • Develop the culture of the team to ensure they are engaged - inspired, inventive, curious and excited to continually raise our in house creative
  • Oversee creative direction and create compelling visuals across channels and formats (product packaging, website, email, social, point of sale, events, photography)
  • Oversee brand visuals, ensuring brand aesthetic is consistent and engaging (e.g., for promotions, product launches)
  • Lead team ideation sessions and spearhead initial creative vision and concepts for projects
  • Develop new typographic and layout solutions that uphold and evolve Avaline’s brand identity and help differentiate the brand
  • Lead photo and video production creative process (incl. working with external production partners)
  • Create a set of Creative KPIs that span growth and brand and tie back to business objectives
  • Collaborate across marketing team, supporting based on needs
  • Maintain and evolve brand guidelines for in partnership with Avaline’s co-founders and CEO
  • Partner with the Executive Team to develop new brands, products, packaging, and services that address community needs, leading creative concepting: strategy, visuals, words, packaging, GTM campaigns
  • Work with vendors to ensure consistency of brand execution at all touch points
  • Ongoing conception of big ideas for how to grow the brand through creative storytelling

    Who You Are:

    • A designer and a creative team leader – packaging design experience preferred
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with people across teams
    • Leverages other people’s opinions and concepts in an efficient design process
    • Interest in wine 
    • Ability to lead creative teams across mediums
    • Resourceful, innovative and able to make resources stretch
    • Strong attention to detail and sets high bar for creative execution
    • Curious, hungry, proactive, results-oriented, data-driven, and thrives in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
    • Strong People leader who is experienced in managing and coaching creative teams

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in creative field, with focus on design and strategy (in-house or agency)
    • Intermediate to advanced experience with graphic design, illustration, photography, videography, copywriting, adobe creative suite
    • Excellent executive and cross functional communicator and partner across all forums & mediums, with superb organizational skills
    • Experience working in consumer products industry preferred

    The Creative Director position offers a salary of $150,000-180,000 per year + annual bonus, based on a variety of factors. This is a full-time position with a remote company.
