Content Creator
We're looking for someone who is fluent in platform performance, shoots with intention, and can tell you immediately why a piece of content did or didn't work.
This role is 70% making, 30% thinking about making. You'll be the creative engine behind Avaline's social presence - primarily on TikTok and Instagram, with supporting activity on Threads, Pinterest, Substack and Facebook. You won't just ideate content - you'll shoot it, edit it, post it, and analyze it. You'll have a point of view on why each piece works, and you'll bring that thinking to a weekly content review. You will blend our aesthetic with content that actually performs. Strategy lives inside your execution, not in a separate document. You know that a strong hook, the right sound, and a clear CTA aren't "nice to haves" - they're the job.
Reporting to the VP, Brand Marketing. Avaline is a fully remote company. This role requires LA-based availability for local events and shoots.
What You'll Do:
Concept and produce platform-first content - short-form video, Reels, carousels, and Stories, shot and edited natively or in CapCut/Premiere. You own it from idea to upload.
Engineer the hook. Every piece of content you make has a deliberate 0–3 second hook. You can articulate why you chose it and iterate fast if it's not working.
Own the content calendar - plan 4–6 weeks ahead, balancing brand moments, product launches, cultural trends, and evergreen content. You keep it alive and flexible.
Be on camera when it serves the content. You're comfortable as a face of the brand when needed, and equally comfortable directing others.
Incorporate trends with judgment - you know which trends fit Avaline's voice and which ones to skip. You move fast on the right ones.
Strategically integrate UGC - identify strong community content, secure rights, and weave it into the calendar meaningfully.
Work closely with Influencer Lead to integrate and brief external creators - plan what content is best executed by external creators, work with influencer Lead to commission said content.
Run community management - engage comments, DMs, and tags in a voice that feels warm, witty, and human.
Bring the numbers - weekly performance review: what worked, what didn't, what you're changing. Views, saves, shares, follows - you know which metric matters for which type of content.
Partner cross-functionally with Brand, Creative, and Trade to keep content socially native while reflecting broader business priorities.
Who You Are:
You have a working theory about why content performs - and you've tested it. Hook length, caption style, thumbnail choice, posting time. You iterate like a product person.
You know the algorithm is not an accident. You study it. You know why things land for specific audiences and how to reverse-engineer that for a brand.
You can be witty yet on-brand. You can write - not only captions, but one-liners, hooks, a call-to-action that doesn't feel like a call-to-action.
You've grown an account or helped grow one. You can point to a before and after and explain what changed.
Wine, wellness, and women-led lifestyle brands aren't foreign territory.
You thrive without a big team or big budget. You see the lack of red tape as an opportunity not a limitation. A phone, good lighting, and a strong idea is all you need.
You're a self starter and don't need a manager to tell you when a trend is breaking.
Qualifications:
2-3 years in a social-first content role - agency, brand side, or as a creator. What matters is that you've been doing the work, not just overseeing it.
Proven TikTok and Instagram track record. Links to work in your application are not optional.
Hands-on skills: short-form video editing (CapCut, Premiere, or native), hook construction, content calendar management, social analytics, UGC sourcing, community management.
Experience in beauty, fashion, food & beverage, wellness, or lifestyle - you understand that selling a feeling is different from selling a spec sheet.
Based in Los Angeles, CA - the company is remote however this person needs to be based in LA to attend local brand events, shoots, and activations in person.
How to Apply:
Please send us 3 pieces of content you’ve personally created — not directed, briefed to someone else, or managed from afar, but actually concepted and made yourself — that demonstrate either:
- strong performance/high engagement,
- visually on-brand storytelling for Avaline,
- or ideally both.
For each example, tell us:
- the strategy behind it,
- why you think it worked (or didn’t),
- and what you’d change if you could do it again.
Bonus points if one example is an original piece of content you create about yourself and why you’d be a fit for this role.
The work and your thinking behind it will tell us far more than a resume.
Please note: Any materials submitted as part of the application process will be reviewed solely for evaluation purposes and will not be used commercially without the candidate’s permission and appropriate compensation. Similarly, please do not submit confidential materials belonging to current or former employers. If a video submission presents an accessibility issue, please reach out and we’ll gladly provide an alternative format.
